Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), is an Indian tractor major incorporated in 1960 at Chennai, with an annual turnover of US $1.5 billion. Being the third-largest tractor manufacturer in the world and the second largest in India by volumes, TAFE has an annual sale of over 180,000 tractors (domestic and international).
TAFE's partnership with AGCO Corporation and the Massey Ferguson brand for six decades is a stellar example of its commitment to building long-term relationships with its stakeholders through fair and ethical business practices.
TAFE is also a significant shareholder in the AGCO Corporation, USA – a US $9.1 billion tractor and agricultural equipment manufacturer.
TAFE manufactures tractors under four iconic brands – Massey Ferguson, TAFE, Eicher and the recently acquired Serbian tractor and agricultural equipment brand IMT (Industrija Mašina i Traktora). The company has earned the trust of customers through its range of products that are widely acclaimed for superior quality and low cost of operation. In 2005, TAFE acquired Eicher's tractors, engines, gears and transmission components business through a wholly owned subsidiary, TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited (TMTL). TAFE exports tractors, both in partnership with AGCO and independently, powering farms in over 100 countries, including developed countries in Europe and the Americas.
Besides tractors, TAFE and its subsidiaries has diverse business interests in areas such as farm machinery, diesel engines and generators, agro-engines, engineering plastics, gears and transmission components, batteries, hydraulic pumps and cylinders, vehicle franchises and plantations.
It's plant in Turkey manufactures a range of tractors for distribution in the country through AGCO's dealer network, while another facility in China caters to its ever-growing global sourcing needs and value addition to its Indian and worldwide operations.
With about 204,000 tractors exported till date, TAFE is among the top exporters of tractors from India, having a strong presence in several countries including 30 African nations. It holds leadership positions in countries like Sudan, Tunisia, Zambia, Uganda, Morocco, Namibia, Botswana in Africa, besides Balkan nations in Europe, and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Asia.
