Botswana is a net food importing country with opportunities to boost production of basic commodities which present an opportunity for investors in this sector. There are therefore opportunities to invest in almost all agriculture sub-sector value chains, as the bulk of the country’s massive import bill of roughly US1 Billion comes from processed commodities, indicating an urgent need for value addition through establishment of processing centres in the country. Other opportunities exist in the grain storage facilities across the country to reduce post-harvest losses, as well as facilitate the development of the local private seed production sector to substitute for the 27 000 tons annual seed imports valued at USD10.9 million. Project Name This is the strengthening of the company LAOPAN-GROUP for the acquisition of 100 heavy duty semitrailer trucks to rent them for the transport of raw materials (crushed granite, ore and aggregates) on behalf of industrial companies installed in Burkina Faso on the one hand and for cement companies on the other. The proponent is therefore seeking funding to strengthen its fleet in general. This project was developed with the aim of assisting the promoter in the search for financing from banking institutions. Project justification Mr. Evans LAOPAN PARE is a young person who has been evolving for several years in entrepreneurship. By persevering, he set up a company called LAOPAN-GROUP which employs a very dynamic team that has been able to establish an interaction with powerful partners around the world. Three areas of action are of interest to LAOPAN-GROUP. It is : - Logistics and international transport. It involves the transport and transit of materials (clinker, gypsum, limestone, manganese, ore, aggregates, gas, bitumen, hydrocarbon,) and all kinds of goods around the world. - Mining industry. This is the supply in the form of rental or direct sales of vehicles, heavy or light equipment, maritime or refrigerated containers (transformed into building sites, housing, stores), as well as other components. - Buildings and public works: Construction of hydraulic buildings and boreholes, roads, engineering structures, dams drinking water supply, metal construction. But of all these activities carried out by LAOPAN-GROUP that of the logistics and the international transport interests more the present project. Indeed, thanks to its general manager who has a great commercial strategy, LAOPAN-GROUP has been able to approach different companies extractors/ exporters of minerals, particularly a very dynamic and renowned company of the place for the transport of raw materials especially the crushed granite. It should be noted that granite is a very important raw material for the construction of road, real estate, mining and many other infrastructures. These are extracted in quarries. This explains the need for companies operating these quarries to appeal to companies with robust trucks for transporting these aggregates. It should be noted that the Burkinabe car fleet has become obsolete, with the result that some transport companies are unable to properly fulfill their contract with quarrying and mineral companies. So, their trucks are become outdated, or their trucks do not have suitable size for the transport of raw materials. For this, the promoter wants to take advantage of this situation to be the exclusive granite carrier of one of these customers in Burkina Faso. He initially leased trucks to individuals to honor his contracts. Unfortunately, truck owners did not honor contracts with LAOPAN-GROUP. That's why he needs to strengthen his company by acquiring 100 heavy-duty CHACMAN semi-trailer trucks with a capacity of 70 tons each.
