Debnath Shaw is a former Indian High Commissioner to Tanzania and former Ambassador to Azerbaijan. He retired from the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) after stints in New Delhi, Hong Kong, Beijing (twice), Bonn, Dhaka, Baku and Dar es Salaam. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Washington DC in 2004-05. He was also seconded to the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi in 2005-07 as Joint Secretary (Planning & International Cooperation). Post superannuation he was engaged as a Consultant in the Ministry of External Affairs for the Third India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-III) held in New Delhi in October 2015. From early 2016 for over four and a half years, he was Advisor (Business Development) at WAPCOS Limited, New Delhi for its overseas consultancy business, spearheading the Company's success in securing new business in Georgia and Suriname.
