GOURISH CHAKRAVORTY is the Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director of Ion Exchange Safic, a Total Water Management Company, based in South Africa since 2012. A Joint venture between Ion Exchange (India) Ltd and SAFIC Pty Ltd, a local South African Company in the business for over four decades. Mr. Chakravorty holds an Honors & Master’s degree in Chemistry from Delhi University. He has over three decades of experience in the field of water treatment & wastewater treatment. Mr. Chakravorty is also a Professional Natural Scientist (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions), a member of the Advisory Board at the University of Pretoria, for the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and IT (EBIT) and Chemical Engineering. He has been Speaker/ Panelist in various national/international forums, including in Conferences conducted by CII. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA), a member in WISA, CorrISA. Has been the panelist as well as speaker in many international conferences including by CII. Enriched with the experience of serving the community past over 14 years. Currently in the CII-IBF as Executive Board Member.

Ion Exchange India was the first water treatment company in India which started manufacturing world class ion exchange resins and Water Treatment Chemicals. IEI have 52 years of experience in the design and supply of water and waste water treatment plants - packaged, pre-engineered and custom built.
IEI has supplied more than 100,000 plants in India and internationally of which over 500 installations are at thermal and nuclear power plants, fertilizer factories, refineries, petrochemicals and other industries. IEI have executed over US $ 25 million World Bank funded projects secured against global competition in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia beside India.
IEI equipment, ion exchangers and chemicals are exported to all the continents; primarily to countries in Middle East, SE Asia, Africa, Egypt, Russia, USA and Europe. In fact, the largest installation in Indonesia is for 3X 9,000 m3/ hour at PT. Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper.
Our range of products includes water, waste water treatment and recycling plants using various physio-chemical processes for settling, clarification, filtration, disinfection, membranes and ion exchange technology, ion exchange resins; polyelectrolytes for water and non-water processes; boiler, cooling water and fireside treatment chemicals. We also offer technical services such as project management at site, design, erection and commissioning, operation and maintenance of plant and supply of spares. Our design team provides designs of the plant with optimum capital and operating costs. The contract execution team, working with latest techniques, provides timely completion of projects. Our customer services division undertakes modification and rehabilitation of existing plants through process modification to augment capacity and improve treated water quality largely making the equipment more cost effective by use of the latest treatment techniques. Providing prompt and efficient service to our esteemed customers has been our prime concern. To fulfil this, we have established regional offices at who provide the service through a wide network of trained dealers and agents throughout their region. Further, to strengthen the service we have opened service companies in the regions along with the dealers. These companies provide efficient after sales services.
